H1B Visa Filing for Fiscal Year 2016

On April, 1, 2015 USCIS will begin accepting H1B applications.  It is expected that the quota of H1B visas will be filled the first day by lottery because the need in our current economy for specialized computer skills exceed the total H1B visas allocated by the U.S. Congress for the year 2015.  In other words, the FY 2015 H-1B Cap Count will remain the same:

  •  Regular H1B Quota : 65,000
  • Masters H1B Quota : 20,000
  • According to the U.S. Chile and U.S. Singapore free trade agreements up to 6,800 visas are set aside from the 65,000 each fiscal year. Unused visas in this group become available for H-1B use for the next fiscal year.

Suggestion: Begin application preparations to ensure filing on April 1, 2015.

If an IBLF client foresees the need for skilled science, technology, math or engineering employee[s], between October 1, 2015 and September 30, 2016, we strongly suggest starting preparations as there are approximately 10 weeks (from January 20, 2015) before the filing may begin.
